St Finbarr's Pipe Band was founded in 1930 by P.J. Daly at Blarney Street. Since then, we have changed residence many times, having been in Marlboro Street before going to Killeens where we spent many happy years. Our "Home" at Thomas Davis Street, Blackpool was probably the most well known until the building was demolished to make way for the flats now there. We spent a couple of years at Blackpool School while we were erecting our present purpose-built Band Hall which was completed in 1973.
Over the years, St Finbarr's Pipe Band has played in every province in Ireland giving performances and taking part in competitions. They have also traveled to Northern Ireland and on many occasions, Scotland, Brittany, France as well as California in the U.S. performing in Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Rosa.

On the competition field, the band has been very successful also winning many competitions over the years, the most memorable being the All Ireland Grade 3 in 1980, 2000, 2009 and 2010 as well as the European and World Championships in 2010. The band also became North American Grade 2 Champions when they took part in the Caledonian Games in Santa Rosa during their visit to California in 1986.
